He is the Founder and CEO of LatAm Alternatives. Mr Rodriguez has over 19 years of experience in Management, Sales, Marketing and Business Development within the securities industry in the US-LatAm region. He was Partner and Head of Latin American Prime Brokerage for Merlin Securities (Mid Tier Prime Broker) and Director of Global Institutional Sales at Trade Station Securities (Monex Group). Before he worked as Director of Latin America for Terra Nova Trading (now LightSpeed Trading) and in the late 90’s he was the Founder President & CEO of Pristine.com Latin America. He started his career at The Caracas Stock Exchange and was President & CEO of a mid tier local Broker Dealer. He has been a live TV Economics News Anchor and is well know as the Founder and Former Head of The Hedge Fund Association (HFA) – LatAm Chapter. Mr Rodriguez was elected STA (Security Traders Association) National Board LatAm Advisor. He lives between NYC, South Florida and Latin America. He is married with 2 children.
Alejandro Jose Rodriguez
Senior Partner & COO
Alejandro studied Systems Engineering with a special bias in process control. Mr Rodriguez is also Partner of LatAmFinance, a boutique Introducing Broker of financial products and services. Mr Rodriguez was founder and COO at Pristine.com Latin America and the Operations Manager of the Miami Brach for its broker dealer. Mr. Rodriguez worked as the Head of the LatAm Division of Terra Nova Trading. He has over 13 years of experience running Equities, Options, Futures Trading Desks as well as the Client Service aspects of the Brokerage Business. Mr. Rodriguez started his career in 1997 as an FX trader for a Mid Tier Broker Dealer in Latin America. Mr. Rodriguez is responsible to ensure that computer systems and technology are in place to support company operations and company growth. Mr. Rodriguez lives in South Florida but loves to spend part of his time in Colorado where he is an avid Mountain Biker and Snowboarder.
Michelle is an Independent Wealth Manager with 15 years experience in Pure Swiss Private Banking. Having lived 18 years in Geneva, Switzerland she developed a vast know how through her vast experience in the field. She began her carreer in Citigroup Private Bank (Suisse),then moved on to Banque Notz & Stucki, bank related to the group of Notz & Stucki and Cie Hedge Funds, and later on worked for Wycombe Financial Services, a Family Office for UHNW clients, that catered to clients essential needs in investments, specially in the Hedge Funds Universe. Her last position in Switzerland was Head of Southern Cone for Banque Baring Brothers Sturdza in Geneva. In 2009 she relocated with her family to Buenos Aires where she lives with her husband and 2 children. Born in the USA, Michelle holds a Masters in Private Banking from the SWISS I.F.G.P.; a B.S. and double major in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Miami. She is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
Mr. Abbo has authored numerous articles about the financial markets and the
Global economy. He has researched and written for such well-recognized publications as The Economist
Intelligence Unit and America Economia. In 2000 Mr. Abbo published “Divisando Wall Street Desde el Sur de America” (a comprehensive guide for the Spanish-speaking community that explains the workings of the stock market). He makes regular guest appearances on various radio and television programs and has served as an expert witness in financial trials and forensic cases. He was Managing Director Corporate Finance at SFC Investment Panama and before he was Vice President International Capital Markets at Credit Suisse Panama. Mr. Abbo holds a degree in Professional Management from Nova University and has served as an MBA tutor for Tecnológico de Monterrey/ Thunderbird University Panama-based Global MBA programs. He is married with 4 children.
ALVARO DE CASTRO
Before joining LatAm Alternatives LLC, Mr. de Castro was co-Founder and Fund Manager of Astra Fund Asset Management (a REIT located in Miami, Florida). Until 2009 he was member of the advisory Board at Security Bank in Florida, where he was key in the merge and sale process that secured US$ 30 million package to the new Bank equity Holders. From 2002-2007, he was partner at Davos Financial Group. Previously he served as partner and COO of Pristine.com Latin America. Mr. de Castro was involved in the acquisition of Pristine.com by Pristine Capital Holdings and afterwards was responsible for growing Pristine in markets such Colombia, Peru and Ecuador among others. In the late 90s Mr. de Castro was involved in several Real Estate ventures in Venezuela and the US. Mr. de Castro earned his degree in Business Administration and International Marketing in 1979 from Edwards University at Austin, Texas. In 2010 Alvaro moved to Bogota, Colombia to lead the Company Andean Operations.
Before joining LatAm Alternatives LLC, Mr. Cabrera was The Head of Institutional Sales US Markets & Portfolio Manager at CM Capital Markets in Madrid, where he ran the program trading desk with an specialty in Pair and L/S Equities Trading and CFD, previously was the founder and CEO at Bolsagest Global Investments where his team developed an Electronic Execution Management System in Spanish for retail high frequency traders. Mr Cabrera was Head of Trading at Pristine Capital Management and was responsible for the trading floors in Caracas, Santiago and Miami. He is currently based between Caracas and Madrid and is an acting member of the Global Investment Committee for M&A activities in Spain, LatAm and Qatar. He is married with 2 children.
Mr. Brad has been an institutional trader specializing in US securities for several internacional firms where he developed diverse strategies in the trading and arbitrage of stocks, ADRs, Bonds and futures. Currently and in parallel with his role at LatAm Alternatives Mr. Brad is the President of Excelis Capital Management LLC, a Commodity Trading Advisor firm specializing in the intraday trading of Metals, Energy and Fx futures. He resides in Miami Fl and is an experienced practitioner of the Pristine Method where he has been a Pristine Trained Trader and Pristine Instructor since 2001. Mr. Brad organizes and teaches Pristine Seminars in Spanish for the US hispanic community and spanish speaking countries around the world. In 1999 he was one of founders members of Pristine.com Latin America. He is married with one child.
GERMAN M. MARTINEZ
Mr M. Martínez have a background in engineering with specialization in finance, has served in the global capital markets for over 21 years, before joining LatAm Alternatives he was business development executive at Bank of Maracaibo NV placement BM Sovereign Debt Fund (Aruba 1994), was the No. 1 selling mutual fund BBVA (Venezuela 1996) was member and stake owner of the Caracas Stock Exchange and Maracaibo Stock Exchange (Venezuela 1997), leading in the acquisition and executive president at Merenap Savings and Loan Institution (Venezuela 1999), Director of First Alliance Financial Services LLC (Nevis) AMG Life Insurance Partner (Panama), Percival Norton LLC (UK 2008), he speak Chinese Mandarin, English and Spanish, Married 3 kids, he is currently based in Shanghai, China.
Marisela is an attorney from Universidad Central de Venezuela. She joined our Team in October 2011, she was an International Legal Consultant for a Hedge Fund Law Firm (Capital Management Services Group), before she worked as Tax Lawyer at D’empaire, Reyna & Associates and earlier she worked at PDVSA (Venezuelan Oil Company). In 1999 while studying English as a second language in Boston, Massachusetts she was assisting as a volunteer at Harvard Medical School (The Brigham & Women’s Hospital), She is an avid Marathon Runner and is married with 2 children.
Director of Information Technology
Before joining LatAm Alternatives LLC, Mr. Iturbe was an external consultant for several major Telecom VOIP Companies in Venezuela and Miami where he assisted in Program Management areas as Data Management, Security and Storage Management. Since 2004 Mr. Iturbe have been affiliated with The Project Management Institute Venezuelan Chapter. Earlier in his career he was Product Manager at Motorola de Venezuela and worked as Manager of Special Projects at CSR and Telecommunication Manager at World Tel-Fax Electronic. Mr. Iturbe earned his degree in Electrical Engineering bias Telecommunications in 1994 from Universidad Metropolitana (UNIMET) in Venezuela. He lives between Miami, Bogota and Caracas where his wife and 2 kids are based.
